Too Cute-icle Summer Fun Essentials Collection! Part 1

If you follow me on Facebook you're probably eagerly anticipating this post...at least I hope you are! I posted a teaser shot of the new Summer Fun Essentials collection from Too Cute-icle that went on sale today in her NEW Big Cartel shop!

This is going to be pretty picture heavy so I'm going to break it into 2 parts. For reference, part one will have Bikini, Lifeguard, Hot Shades and Flippy Floppies. Part 2 will have SPF, Cut Offs, and Beach Blanket.

Each of these 3-Free polishes were swatched over a plain nude polish and would probably do best with a good pair of "undies". Although I was able to achieve full opaqueness with Bikini, Lifeguard, Cut Offs and Beach Blanket, I felt like they looked best (and you use a lot less LOL!) with a neutral underneath. So without further ado...

First up is Bikini! Bikini is a gorgeous, slightly rosy pink linear holo. This is 2 coats over nude.

Next up is Lifeguard. Lifeguard is a bright red (could throw kind of raspberry pinky-red in some lighting) linear holo. Jess suggests you wear a good base coat since red polishes can occasionally stain. I wore mine for a day and didn't notice any staining that didn't come right off with polish remover. This is one of my favs, the sparkle in it s gorgeous in the sun light. This was Mr. Fox's favorite on me.

Next we have Hot Shades! Hot Shades is a bright orange (not neon, just bright) linear holo. This was probably my least favorite but only because I don't do oranges much. Its really pretty and the sparkle and shine in the sun was gorgeous.

And last but not least for this post is Flippy Floppies! Probably my favorite name of the bunch. I mean, come on, if someone asks what you're wearing you can not say 'Flippy Floppies' without smiling. However I'm probably biased since I named this one...LOL! Flippy Floppies is a gorgeous banana yellow. It is technically a linear holo but the polish is so bright in itself that it drowns out the rainbow effect a bit. Still, its there in the sun and its gorgeous. Again, the shine and the sparkle is crazy -- its perfect for summer -- and I will definitely be wearing this one again! Too Cute-icle Summer Fun Essentials Collection! Part 2

Welcome back to part 2 of Too Cute-icles Summer Fun Essentials Collection! In case you missed it, you can view part 1 here.

First up in part 2 we have SPF! SPF is a super fun, bright lime green linear holo! As with Flippy Floppies, the polish is so bright that it drowns out the holo a bit, but its still super sparkly in the sun. This is one of my favs as well, the color is outstanding! This is 2 coats of SPF over nude. Click to enlarge and see the sparkle!

CUT OFFS is my faaaavorite of the collection and the only one to contain actual glitter in addition to the holo! Seriously, this baby is GORGEOUS in the sun and inside! If you like blue, you need this. Trust me. Don't forget the base coat, blue polishes occasionally stain.

And last but not least we have Beach Blanket to round out this gorgeous collection (I think I need a new word for how amazingly beautiful these are...). Beach Blanket is the most holo-y out of the bunch and its a beautiful, bright purple.

So what is my overall impression of the collection as a whole? I love it! I love that the colors are wearable and bright but not neon. They easily pull double duty too by being somewhat understated inside (say, at work maybe), and then super flashy when you step into the sun to have some fun. My top 3 must haves: Cut Offs, Lifeguard and SPF in that order, with Flippy Floppies a very close 4th.  For her very first foray into holos I think Jess did a really great job!

Model City Polish - Red Spinel

When I showed Mr. Fox Claws this polish he said, "If there was ever a polish MADE for you, this is it." I couldn't agree more! Raspberry-ey pink. Silver. Holo. Glitter. #dead.

'Red Spinel' by Model City Polish is a gorgeous, SUPER sparkly, holographic pink and holographic silver glitter mix in a clear base. It is so densely packed with glitter that you can actually achieve full coverage in about 3 coats! (Don't forget your Elmers Glue base coat LOL!) I experienced zero placement issues, and I was pleased that the glitter stayed where I put it; it didn't run, drag, or clump which made application a breeze. It didn't eat top coat either. One coat of Sinful Colors new 'Over The Top' Top Coat tackled it just fine. 

When I swatched this I didn't have my Elmers handy so this is 2 coats of 'Red Spinel' over Sinful Colors ' Dazzle'. I'll include a swatch of Dazzle at the end for reference. Disclaimer: This polish was sent to me for an honest review.

Model City Polish - PB&J!

So this is going to sound a bit far fetched but its the honest to goodness truth. It may even further prove that I probably need professional 'help' for my nearly perpetual 'glass half full' mentality, but here goes...

I received a press kit of 4 minis from the lovely Miss Nina at Model City Polish the day that I got home from my amaaaaaazing vacay in Cali! I was so excited that I tore the package open before I had all of my bags in from the car and OMG they were so pretty! The next morning I received a phone call from my 'boss' (while I was getting ready for work, mind you) who told me not to come in. I'd been canned. Great...main source of income GONE. But every freaking time I walked past the pretty little Model City Polishes sitting in a row on the kitchen table I thought, "God I can't wait to swatch those! They're going to be stunning!" LOL! So Nina, thanks for making a potentially dark day quite a bit brighter!

I'm going to split this review up into 4 separate posts since the sun never seems to want to work with me when I need it to and polish typically looks best in natural light. So here we go, my first adventure with Model City Polish!

PB&J by Model City Polish is a gorgeous, rich purple jelly with a mix of 2 different sized gold holo glitters. The name is PERFECT because it really does remind me of PB&J! This is 3 coats over a naked nail (well, with clear base coat of course) and SV top coat.

I think I've mentioned it before, but I have a hard time with jellies even though I love the look of them. I usually skip over them because I feel like it takes to long to get a good amount of VNL coverage. That said, application of PB&J was a breeze as long as I stayed with thin even coats, and 3 coats to full coverage was easy to achieve!

Rainbow Ombre/Gradient with 3 colors!

Hey guys!!

Recently a newcomer to one of my favorite nail polish groups posted an INCREDIBLE rainbow gradient mani that I just HAD to try! The inspiration for this mani came from this Cutepolish video!

I used:
Icing - Hot Date (pink)
Zoya - Pippa (yellow)
China Glaze - Aquadelic (turquoise)
China Glaze - Fairy Dust (bling!)
Sinful Colors - Snow Me White (...white)

I'm not going to go into how I did this since Cutepolish did a phenomenal job in her video, but I will add that I find that adding a clear or glitter coat over the gradient, before the top coat, smooths the colors together much better than if you skip it and just add a top coat. This is seriously MUCH easier than it looks, and the effect is CRAYCRAY!

We also released a new nail polish rack this week!!

Too Cute-icle - Villainess Trio

...Or at least two of the three LOL!

I have been eagerly awaiting these babies since Jess at Too Cute-icle first posted a sneak peek in one of the nail groups I'm in with her on Facebook! The Villainess Trio was inspired by 3 of Disney's most horrific leading bad girls - Cruella, Ursula and Maleficent. She nailed it, they're awesome! Before we get started I wanted to say that I did receive all 3 of these to swatch and review but my bottle of Cruella was full of glitter floaties so I opted not to review it. Jess has since put a quality note on all listings of Cruella in her shop. There's nothing 'wrong' with it, my bottle just wasn't quite right and I didn't want to put photos up of something without giving her the opportunity to address it.

First up is Ursula! Ursula is a pretty mix of  black and purples hexes and squares with micro white glitter and teeny tiny iridescent shreds in a clear base. I expected this one to by my least favorite ( I don't really care for purples too much) but I was wrong, it is really pretty. The tiny shreds add an unexpected shimmer to this beauty that you can only see on the nail. This is 1 coat of Ursula (2 coats on ring finger) over Sinful Colors 'Candy Coated'

Next up is Maleficent (my fav!) over China Glaze Elephant Walk.  Maleficent is described as a mix of black, purple, pink (more magenta than pink IMO), and green glitter in a clear base. This polish was my favorite from her original promo pics, and I was so excited that it lived up to my expectations in person. The green takes this polish to another level, its SOO fun!  This is one coat on ring, middle, pinky and 2 coats on ring finger.
